A cool, transparent red that has moderate lightfastness. With low tinting strength, Rose Madder loses intensity when mixed with white. Works well in mixes and is essential for creating glazes in portrait painting and in landscapes where the sun is low on the horizon and a warm glow is desired. Rose Madder is also commonly used in floral paintings as it is ideal for shadow and mid-tone transition areas on petals.
