Chartpak® AD® Marker Basic Set, 12 Markers

The Basic set has bright primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. Experiment with blending and creating highlights and low lights with limited color families. This is an excellent set to start building your AD Marker color collection.

Chartpak's original xylene AD® Markers properties are unlike all alcohol-based markers common to the marketplace, and while they are compatible with one another, they perform very differently. They won't smudge alcohol-based pens including fine liners, they also work well over ballpoint pens and technical pens. To mix a custom color, apply the marker colors to a plastic film like acetate, pick up the marker color and mix them with the Colorless Blender as you would a paintbrush. Once mixed, you can use the blender marker to apply your custom color to your surface. AD markers layer, blend, transfer laser images, and are permanent on many porous and non-porous substrates. However, they are not recommended for use on Styrofoam. These markers are juicy, and last an extremely long time when the cap is applied securely. There is no mistaking the scent of a xylene marker, and for this reason, we always suggest using them in a well-ventilated area.

All markers come with a tri-nib point allowing for thin, medium, and broad strokes all within one marker. The nibs are removable and replaceable to extend the life of your marker.

Polycolor blender pencils soften colored pencil edges and aid in blending and creating shadows. The blender pencil has a colorless 3.8mm core encased in California Cedar. California cedar is not only a renewable resource but is regarded as the best wood for pencils because it doesn't warp. Each core is perfectly centered in its casing for even sharpening, and glued throughout to prevent breakage. The end result is a water-resistant, non-toxic pencil that layers and blends beautifully without a waxy buildup.

Spectra AD® Markers are alcohol-based markers that are ideal for art and design projects. Spectra AD Markers are extremely versatile, featuring dual-ended tips with a flexible brush nib on one side and a unique tri-nib on the other. The AD Marker signature Tri-nib offers three line widths – fine, medium, and broad – with the twist of the wrist. The nibs are removable and replaceable, and the markers are refillable. Colors dry fast, are permanent, non-toxic, and are low odor. They can be used with the Spectra AD Blender Marker to create gradations, to blend and lighten color, and to mix with other colors to create something truly unique! Spectra AD Markers can be used with traditional xylene-based AD Markers. For best results, keep finished works out of direct sunlight.
